Three new activities: gardening, bowling and baking
We asked Friends what they wanted to do. These are the three things they told us.

Over the past few months we have introduced three new activities, each one a direct response to what Friends told us they would enjoy.
Gardening Together
Runs in partnership with Tam O'Shanter Urban Farm on Boundary Road, Birkenhead. We have a wonderful helper at the farm who has drawn up a gardening plan across the summer months, helping us sow and care for plants that will go on to feed the animals there. As the weather turns colder in autumn, we hope to move into the farm's heated community room for indoor activities such as crafts and Christmas wreath making.
Bowling Together
Runs from April to September at The Manor Care Home in Upton. It is a lovely way to relax in the sunshine over a leisurely game of crown green bowls. No experience is needed, because our very experienced bowler Dave is on hand to help and advise. Booking is essential as places are limited, and this one fills up fast.
Baking Together
Runs at Manor House, the Beechwood Community Trust shop, whose team have kindly given us the use of their café kitchen and ovens. With Julia and a member of the kitchen staff on hand to keep everyone safe, we prepare a selection of goodies each month to enjoy at the café or take home for later.
Both gardening and baking are based in areas of higher deprivation on the Wirral, which was a deliberate choice.
