Fundraise for Dementia Together Wirral

Walk, bake, sing, swim or play golf. Whatever you choose, the money you raise helps people living with dementia on the Wirral enjoy company, music and days out.

Getting started

How it works

Step 1

Choose what you'd like to do

Big or small, on your own or with friends. Anything you enjoy can raise money.

Step 2

Set up your page

JustGiving takes a few minutes, or we can post you a paper sponsor form. Just ask.

Step 3

Tell us, then pay in

We can send posters, a collection tin and a thank-you certificate, and cheer you on across our social media.

Ideas

At school, a club or church

Choose us as your charity of the year. Woodchurch High School, Little Sutton Bowling Club and golf clubs across the Wirral have all raised money for us.

Your own event

A golf day, a car show, a concert or a line dancing night. Tell us about it and someone from our team can often come along. Just ask. Children love sitting in our little red sports car, and it's a great way to get people stopping to chat and donate.

Stuck for ideas? Tell us what you enjoy and we'll help.

Paying in

Paying in your money

Wallasey Golf Club members hold up a large cheque for Dementia Together Wirral beside the charity's banner

Online. If you used JustGiving, you don't need to do anything. The money comes straight to us.

By cheque or bank transfer. To pay in by cheque, or for our bank details, contact our team on 07935 797445 or info@dementiatogetherwirral.org. You can post cheques to Dementia Together Wirral, Commerce House, Campbeltown Road, Birkenhead CH41 9HP.

Cash. Please don't post cash.

Gift Aid. If your sponsors are UK taxpayers, ask them to tick Gift Aid on your form. It adds 25p to every £1 they give. Gift Aid can't be added to cake sales, raffle tickets or collections.

Our team can help with ideas, posters, sponsor forms and collection tins.

Doing it safely

Keeping it safe and fair

Two Dementia Together Wirral volunteers with lanyards smile beside the charity's information stall, with a banner and leaflets on the table

Most fundraising needs no special permission. A few things do, so please have a quick look.

Please don't ask people living with dementia to sponsor you, even family. Carers, friends and colleagues are all welcome.

Collections. Collecting in the street or door to door needs a licence from Wirral Council. Tins in shops or pubs need the owner's permission. We can lend you a tin.

Raffles. A raffle drawn at your event, with small prizes, is usually fine. If you want to sell tickets beforehand, talk to us first.

Food. Keep food clean and label anything with common allergens.

Your event. Check your venue is insured, and say your event is "in aid of Dementia Together Wirral".

Money. Never leave cash alone, count it with someone else, and pay it in soon.

We follow the Code of Fundraising Practice. You can also read our policies.

Questions

Answers to what matters most when you're planning to fundraise

I'm not sure where to start

Start with something you already do well or something you've wanted to try. A walk, a bake sale, a sponsored silence. We'll suggest ideas and help you set it up properly.

How do I pay in the money?

See Paying in your money above, or call our team on 07935 797445.

Can children take part?

Yes, with a parent or guardian. School groups, Brownies, Guides and scouts all welcome. We'll keep materials age-right and the ask straightforward.

Is there a minimum target?

No. Forty pounds pays for a Friend's seat on a coach trip, and every amount helps.

Can I have a collection tin, poster or sponsor form?

Yes, we can send these. Just ask our team.

Can I use your logo?

Yes. Please say "in aid of Dementia Together Wirral" and ask us for the logo.

Can someone from DTW come to my event?

We often can, with our banner and leaflets. Just ask, as early as you can.

Can I fundraise in memory of someone?

Yes. You can find out more about giving in memory.

What if I fall short?

Whatever you raise goes straight to DTW and helps our Friends. There's no pressure to hit a number. We're grateful for what you do.

Can I cover my own costs?

All money raised goes to Dementia Together Wirral. If you have genuine costs like a race entry fee, we can talk about that separately.
