Treasurer
Lead the board's financial oversight and help a growing charity plan with confidence. A finance professional is ideal.

About the role
As well as the general trustee duties, the Treasurer keeps an overview of the charity's finances. You make sure the right financial controls are in place and report to the board on our financial health. Our income has grown from about £22,000 in 2020/21 to about £196,000 in 2025/26.
What the Treasurer does
- Presents budgets, management accounts and the annual financial statements to the board
- Makes sure proper accounting records, procedures and controls are in place
- Supports robust financial policies, including reserves and cost management
- Monitors and advises on the charity's financial viability and financial risk
- Advises on the financial side of our strategic plan
- Advises on appointing and working with external auditors
- Makes sure the accounts are prepared and submitted to the Charity Commission
- Chairs the Finance Subcommittee and helps the board understand its financial duties
Who we are looking for
- A finance professional
- Knowledge of charity finance is an advantage. Otherwise, an enthusiasm to learn, with sound commercial experience and an understanding of small businesses
- A clear communicator who can bring financial information to life for non-specialists
- Willing to play an active part in forecasting, budget setting and working with auditors
We currently use receipts and payments accounts. If we keep growing, this could change to accrual accounting.
Terms
- A voluntary role. Reasonable expenses are paid
- Appointment is subject to two references, a DBS check and eligibility to act as a charity trustee
